Privacy Policy Statement

 

1. General Policy Statement

We pledge to meet fully recognized standards of personal data privacy protection in complying with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. In doing so, we will ensure compliance by our staff with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality.

 

2. Data Collection and Use

Personal data submitted in making an application for membership with CIB will be used, disclosed or transferred only for the purpose of assessing the application or those purposes related to membership or where permitted by law. If the information provided is inaccurate or incomplete, assessment of the application may be affected.

 

Personal data will be collected by CIB for the purposes of performing its functions and powers under its Memorandum and Articles of Association.  Personal data will be used, disclosed or transferred only for those purposes or where permitted by law. If the information provided is inaccurate or incomplete, CIB may be unable to perform its functions and powers.

 

Personal data submitted in subscribing to publications, enrolling to an event, seminar or educational or training activity or making a written or telephone enquiry will be used, disclosed or transferred only for the purpose of administering these services.  If the information provided is inaccurate or incomplete, CIB may be unable to process the subscription, enrolment or handle the enquiry including any necessary follow-up work.

 

Personal data such as names, identifications and contact details submitted for attending an activity via the Internet including a webinar, meeting or e-learning activity will be used, disclosed or transferred only for the purpose of administering the activity.  If the information provided is inaccurate or incomplete, CIB may be unable to admit attendance to the activity or to issue the attendance certificate.   A webinar may be recorded for further education purpose, any contribution to a webinar including spoken or written comments may identify the individual and may be used, disclosed or transferred for training or education purpose. 

 

3. Retention

Personal data provided to CIB are retained for such period as may be necessary for the proper discharge of CIB's functions.

 

4. Access and Correction

Any person who wishes to request access to and/or correction of his/her personal data held by CIB may do so in writing addressed to the Data Privacy Officer, The Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers, Room 1504, Tai Tung Building, 8 Fleming Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong.
